about
On 5050box.com I ask the whole world to help me. I want to set up a company that gives away 50% of the profit to charity. I built this website both to help charity organisations and to get the money for the start-up. That is 5050.
You can buy 5050boxes for video advertising and be a 5050box SPONSOR.
Your video as well as a link to your website will be online for one year. As a SPONSOR you agree to donate the same amount of money that your 5050box costs to a charity organisation. 5050.
This is what an integrated 5050box SPONSOR video on 5050box.com can look like:
What charity organisations?
This is where a 5050box ANGEL comes into play. Every visitor, basically every web-user can suggest an organisation. Make a video about a charity organisation yourself! Upload the video to YouTube, send the YouTube-link to 5050box and your video will be displayed within a 5050box.
This is what an integrated 5050box ANGEL video looks like (iJustine for charity: water):
5050box ANGEL video example explained:
- www.charitywater.org — link to the charity’s website. More information, donation, contact charity, etc.
- 3.904581, 38.663972 — latitude and longitude. Shows you where the money is going to on an integrated map.
- 5050box.com/blog… — link to become a 5050box SPONSOR.
If someone wants to help an organisation you introduced with your video she/he will find all information needed to donate to the organisation. She/he can also buy and replace an ANGEL-video by a SPONSOR-video. If the buyer of the 5050box does not want to provide an own video and/or link the supported organisation can add a short “Thank you”-video instead. Quite simple.
This is how 5050box should work
A regular visitor browses on 5050box.com:
1. 5050box visitor watches a video on 5050box. “Hey, somebody (a 5050box angel) introduced a charity organisation with a video – I love it. I/My company wants to support the charity and I am glad that I find all information necessary to donate to the charity on 5050box.”
2. Visitor/Company donates 100% to the charity.
Charity: got a donation — win.
Visitor: visitor helped with a donation, feels great — win.
5050box: helped the charity to get a donation, feels great — win.
Win-Win-Win. good.
A potential 5050box SPONSOR browses on 5050box.com:
1. 5050box visitor watches a video on 5050box. “Hey, somebody (a 5050box ANGEL) introduced a charity organisation with a video – I love it. I/My company wants to support the charity AND advertise on 5050box. That does not only help the charity but also shows that I/we do care and is good marketing as well.”
2. Visitor/Company donates at least 50% to the charity and pays 50% to 5050box, uploads an (advertising-)video on 5050box with an added link to a (company-)website. Visitor/Company has become a 5050box SPONSOR.
Charity: got a donation — win.
Visitor: advertises, helped with a donation, feels great — win.
5050box: is one step closer, helped to get a donation, feels great — win.
Win-Win-Win. good.
You can help by:
- making a video for a charity organisation/person (be a 5050box ANGEL)
- buying a 5050box (be a 5050box SPONSOR)
- donating to introduced organisations
- being a part of this website and telling the whole world about it!
To sum it up: 5050box is a site
- to introduce charity/non-profit organisations to raise awareness and help them,
- for high quality video advertising to promote products, brands, etc. and
- to help me getting the seed capital for THE REAL 5050box.
That is what 5050box is all about. And no: Not a joke. I definitely mean to set up a company that helps others with 50% of the profit. 5050box.com was created to help charities all over the world. If it also helps getting the seed capital for an even bigger picture it would be awesome.
Some thoughts…
5050box is about helping. About sharing. And about doing it together.
I have this idea to set up a company that gives away 50% of the profit for quite a while. And now I am thinking: Why not give it a try!
Easier said then done. To kick off I will need seed money. Asking angel investors to help me is not a real option. They take about 30% of the company and would leave me with just 20% to keep the whole company running (100% – 50% for charity – 30% business angel = 20% left). It simply would not work.
Instead, I came up with the idea to ask the whole world to help me. And here I am. I am asking you!
Just like the company I would like to establish, this site – 5050box.com – wants to make sure that 50% of the profit goes to charity organisations. This is the concept, this is the deal. It either works. Or not.
5050box is about videos. About advertising. And I admit: High profit!
I am fascinated by the internet and its boundless possibilities. Although there are brilliant sites and services on the WorldWideWeb it seems to be challenging to make real profit. Making money with websites is mainly connected with advertising. This is the way that Google, MySpace and many other sites/companies earn their money. Whereas text and picture advertising may already have reached its climax there is still no proper way for video advertising on the web. YouTube is great but since there are thousands of videos uploaded each day, your company’s advertising drowns in millions(!) of videos.
So why not limit it and make video advertising valuable?
5050box is limited to a number of 2500 videos. You pay once, “do something good” and might get more feedback than you would ever expect for being a part of web history.
How you can help? Just see the short version above – there is no detailed way to describe it better. And do not forget that you can submit videos if you want someone to be helped!
