Carrotmob – customers make the change

The customer is king.

We all know that this is right. We are all aware of that. Carrotmobbing is a way to use this knowledge for a change. On the Carrotmob website you will find a definition:

“Carrotmob is a method of activism that leverages consumer power to make the most socially-responsible business practices also the most profitable choices.”

The following video explains it.

And this is how it works in real life.

I think it is a fantastic idea. In case you live in Bielefeld, Germany there is Carrotmob on 22. August. Must be fun — be a part of it!

Deep in our heart we all know what is right

I did not integrate this video on 5050box because it is not in English. On the other hand no one speaks in this video and I really liked the clip so I put it on the blog.

The text says: “Deep in our heart we all know what is right.”

Video on YouTube

The video is a TV advertising for the German organisation Caritas.

Transparency, accessibility and a guy called Jeffrey

I have just seen a talk from Jeffrey Kalmikoff at the BIG Omaha Conference. Jeffrey is one of those forward-thinking creatives, entrepreneurs and innovators that gave a presentation in order to invite others to think BIG.

Jeffrey has a blog (http://www.callmejeffrey.com) and is “partner and chief creative officer for skinnyCorp – the Chicago-based, community business-centric house best known for being the parent company of Threadless.”

Apart from mentioning Rhianna, Jeffrey talked about things like transparency, accessiblity and being open. Things we all know to be important and true. Things we sometimes forget. I am glad he did not. Awesome.

Interview with Ori Brafman – The starfish and the spider

An interview with Ori Brafman, co-author of “The starfish and the spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations“. He talks about decentralized organisations and their success. According to him Barack Obama’s election campaign, YouTube and Wikipedia are good examples for this kind of “leadership”. Sounds interesting!

YouTube NonProfit raises $10.000 for charity: water – in one day

I have just read on Twitter that YouTube raised $10.000 for charity:water. In ONE day!

Charity:water joined the YouTube NonProfit programme and was featured on the YouTube homepage to commemorate World Water Day. Non-Profits can add the newly introduced “Call to Action” feature to their videos, an overlay that leads to the charity’s donations page. This way charity: water raised $10.000 in just one day. Good!

In case you are interested in the programme I wrote about Google and YouTube for Non-profits last month. As it seems this programme became even more attractive and hopefully will be expanded to help charities in other countries too.

Here is the video from charity: water.

If you want to donate to charity: water just follow the link to their website or donate directly on 5050box.com. On the right sidebar is a donation button that will lead you directly to charity: water’s Paypal donation account.

charity: water, Twestival, iJustine and a lot of people that do care

5050box recently joined Twitter. Many others have done that too and quite a few thought it would be nice to organise 202 Twestivals, festivals around the world, “bringing together Twitter community for an evening of fun and to raise money and awareness for charity: water”.

Google and YouTube for Non-profits

Google and YouTube can help non-profit organisations. Google has a program called Google Grants which is part of Google for Non-profits

There is a nice ad/video that summarizes the benefits quite well. People from CASA introduce Google for Non-profits.
