hands project

This is the 5050box // hands project information site. The hands project is part of http://5050box.com.

5050box // hands project

5050box wants to collect 5050 hands to create a huge mosaic. As soon as 5050 pictures of hands are uploaded a limited edition of the finished mosaic will be sold. 100% of the profit will be donated to support charities. Watch the mosaic grow and be a part of it! Yes, it is a fun project.

Why hands?
Our hands can change the world.

Why a mosaic?
Changing the world is easier if we all work together. Hand in hand. And one day we will see the “bigger” picture.

Why 5050?
5050 stands for sharing.

How to be a part of it:

1. Upload your hands
Take a picture of your or your friend’s hands and upload them to http://5050box.com/hands.

You can take a picture with your

  • camera and upload the image-file.
  • webcam. Probably the easiest way to be a part of it.
  • mobile. You will be redirected to http://m.5050box.com to upload an image from your mobile.

2. Tell your friends. Keep in touch.
The project is NOT finished after your upload!
Tell your friends about it to complete the mosaic. You can simply join the facebook 5050box group and invite some of your friends. To get updates just follow 5050box on Twitter: http://twitter.com/5050box. I will post updates on both facebook and twitter as well as on the blog (subscribe to the RSS-feed).

3. Spread the code. QR-coding.
You might wonder what this strange code for mobile upload is good for. It is a QR Code, a QuickResponse code that can easily be read by many mobile phones with a camera. It is used to connect the digital world with the analog world. While it is not well known in many countries it is quite common in Japan. You can find these codes in magazines, newspapers or on big posters.

Decoding the code will lead your mobile browser to http://m.5050box.com where you can upload a picture of your hands from your mobile too. Take a picture of your friend’s hands and upload them. Do not worry about resolution – it is a mosaic consisting of small tiles/pictures (min. resolution 400×300, max file size 500Kb).

If you want you can download one of the pdf-files, print it out and put it on a wall.
